Rolex Launches the Land Dweller: Redefining the Standard of Watchmaking Excellence
As a major exhibitor at the Geneva Haute Horlogerie Exhibition, Rolex sparked countless discussions on the opening day with its new Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller watch.

Since its founding in 1905, Rolex has placed precision and reliability at the core of its technological evolution. The development of the Landmaster continues this path. Its design draws inspiration from the classic aesthetics of the quartz watch launched in 1969 and the Datejust launched in 1974, while achieving breakthroughs in movement architecture, materials, and wearability. This watch embodies the most advanced Rolex technologies, with at least 32 patent applications and patents, 18 of which are specific to this watch and 16 related to its movement.

Advanced Technology for Excellence
The Landmaster is equipped with the new calibre 7135. Developed and manufactured entirely in-house by Rolex, this movement is a redesign of the calibre 7140 that powered the 1908 model. Its high frequency of 5 Hz, equivalent to 36,000 vibrations per hour, enables accurate time measurement to within a tenth of a second. Furthermore, the exceptional efficiency of the barrel and escapement ensure a power reserve of approximately 66 hours, ensuring long-lasting and reliable timekeeping.

The Dynapulse escapement in the calibre 7135 is particularly eye-catching. This revolutionary technological innovation replaces the traditional Swiss lever escapement with an innovative sequential escapement, transmitting energy through a rolling motion rather than a sliding one. The escapement features a train wheel connected to the barrel, which drives two special transfer wheels that operate in sequence, triggering the impulse lever to maintain the oscillation of the balance wheel. Composed primarily of silicon components, this system is not only incredibly light but also immune to magnetic fields, making it significantly more efficient than traditional escapements. This is a completely new technology developed by the Rolex Manufacture and has resulted in seven patents.
Ingenious Design, Leading the Way
Beyond the movement and escapement, the Landmaster's design embodies innovation and ingenuity in other areas. The new Flat Jubilee bracelet, designed specifically for this watch, is inspired by the classic Jubilee bracelet introduced with the Datejust in 1945. It retains the same five-link structure, but with a more distinctive link design: three narrow and two wide from the center to the edge, unlike the previous model, which had all flat links. The top edges of the outer links are polished and beveled, blending seamlessly with the Oyster case, creating a light-band effect.

The Land-Dweller's dial design is equally distinctive. Two finishes, a frosted white dial and a sunray-effect ice-blue dial, are applied to the white Rolesor and 18K Everose gold models, respectively, as well as the 950 platinum model, enhancing legibility amidst the play of light and shadow.

The Oyster case is a classic Rolex design, and the Landschaft has undergone innovative upgrades. The new case features a high-tech brushed surface on the upper middle case and a specially adapted water-resistance system around the crystal, ensuring water resistance to a depth of 100 meters and providing optimal protection for the movement.
Currently, the Landschaft collection is available in 36mm and 40mm sizes, in white Rolesor, 18K Everose gold, and 950 platinum. Some precious metal models feature dials adorned with a trapezoidal diamond bezel and square diamond hour markers. Each watch offers its own unique charm, satisfying the diverse tastes of different consumers in terms of style and material.
Avant-garde and daring, a role model
The day before the opening of the watch exhibition, social media posts featuring Rolex ambassador Roger Federer wearing the new watch revealed the brand's target audience: pioneers of a new era.

Tennis legend Roger Federer and pianist Yuja Wang were the first to wear the watch, each achieving remarkable success in the worlds of piano and tennis. Their groundbreaking careers align perfectly with the spirit of the Land Rover. Federer, a tennis legend and a Rolex Testimonial since 2001, has consistently achieved brilliance on the court through decisive decision-making and forward-thinking strategic vision. His legendary Wimbledon victory at the age of 38 not only marked a personal achievement but also became a symbol of perseverance and endeavor. Today, he is rebuilding his life in many ways, striving for the future.

Beyond its timekeeping function, the Land-Dweller's value perhaps lies even more: it instills in its wearer the conviction that the instrument beating on their wrist is not merely a timepiece, but a soul that resonates with them on their journey. True to its name, "Land-Dweller," it stands at the intersection of land and the future, honoring those who dare to explore new frontiers.
